The Great Marion Brown

While dismissing Brown's work as a sideman may be outright blasphemy, this blogger is largely interested in the preservation and expansion of musical ideas. Marion Brown, though no slouch as a musician, was one of the most important conceptual innovators in post-bop jazz (if we're willing to categorize his music into that broad field). This attempt at creating complete discographical databases could yield interesting studies of evolving talent and succinct musical messages.

Below is a list of recording dates. As I mentioned above, I am mainly interested in preserving the leader dates, but if it is possible to compile a complete discography of all recordings, that might prove to be even more exciting.

Format notes: Flac only. I have placed (*) by albums I own that will be posted shortly.
